How to Play DU3L
DU3L is a free tactical arena combat game that runs entirely in your browser — no download, no install. Build a loadout, out-fight real opponents online, or sharpen your skills against AI. This guide covers everything you need for your first duel.
Start playing in under a minute
- Open du3l.me. The command deck loads right in your browser — solo modes need no account.
- Configure your loadout. Choose a melee weapon, a ranged weapon and a Moment special from the loadout panel on the home deck.
- Pick your fight. Hit Quickplay for online matchmaking, browse public arenas, or warm up offline in Practice Mode or a simulated AI duel.
Controls
DU3L uses one input contract across every mode. Defaults for Player 1:
| Action | Key | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Move | W A S D | Directional movement around the arena |
| Attack | F | Hold to charge a melee swing; press to fire a ranged weapon |
| Weapon Special | Q | Your equipped weapon's signature move |
| Moment Special | E | Your chosen once-per-round tactical power |
| Swap Weapon | R | Switch between melee and ranged mid-fight |
| Dash | Shift | Quick burst of movement to engage or escape |
| Block | X | Hold to guard against incoming damage |
| Aim | C / V or mouse | Rotate aim manually, or enable Face Mouse Cursor in Settings |
Every key is rebindable in Settings → Controls, and gamepads are supported (left stick moves, right stick aims). Mouse players can turn on click-to-attack and move-toward-cursor.
The combat loop
Duels are fast, readable fights about spacing and timing:
- Control space. Every weapon has a reach — Spear zones at distance, Dagger wants to be inside your guard.
- Charge or poke. Held melee attacks hit harder and launch further; tap attacks keep tempo.
- Block and bait. Holding Block absorbs pressure; mistimed swings leave opponents open to a counter.
- Swap on the fly. Ranged poke into melee finish — or the reverse — keeps your opponent guessing.
- Spend your Moment. Moment specials like Time Warp or Gravity Snap can flip a round once per duel.
- Use the walls. Knockback converts into wall slams — corner pressure wins rounds.
Your loadout
A DU3L loadout is four choices: a melee weapon, a ranged weapon, a Moment special and weapon talents that tune how your specials behave. There are 7 melee weapons, 4 ranged weapons and 10 Moment specials — see the weapons & loadouts guide for the full arsenal, or dig into counters and synergies in the Weapon Codex.
